Get That Vintage Sound

There are times when you just want to end a long day strumming the guitar, reminiscing the good old days. My husband and I love songs from the 80’s and 90’s.  So there are evenings when we just lazily hang around the house singing these songs.

My husband’s RJ Jacinto Ventures Stratocaster has been with him for almost 20 years; and he has tried a lot of different electric guitar strings on it.  But nothing sounds as golden as the gibson vintage strings. It sure brings back that vintage warmth.  It gives back our old guitar an authentic sound; a voice that goes so well with its looks.

Derick’s First On-Stage Experience

Derick (in bright yellow “football” shirt), who’s now 2 and 8 months old danced to

“You are my sunshine and Twist” together with the rest of reception students.

 

Seeing little ones perform in front of a crowd with confidence and enjoying every bit of it makes parents really proud. Synchronization is no longer important, the mere fact that they were able to go up the stage, perform the entire presentation without throwing tantrums is definitely a major feat.

For most, performing in front of an audience is frightening. Stage fright is a real thing which could at times ruin a performance. Luckily though, these youngsters are oblivious to that. So through it all they did what they are suppose to do, and performed their hearts out on stage.  They had fun. We all had fun.

The entire show would not have been a success if not for the dedication and all out support of their teachers. Teachers are these children’s superheroes. Indeed they are! They made everything possible. The daily rehearsals are tasking and challenging. Their patients surely was put to the test, yet they were able to keep their cool. That’s why teachers are so loved by these cuties.  Not just this, teachers have to decorate the stage from planning, procuring, and the actual placing of backdrops and other decorations.  Good thing though www.shopbackdrop.com makes life a bit easy.

We hope that this confidence in them is nurtured and will one day help them achieve greater heights in life.

To Derick, may you grow up full of charm, confidence, and humility.  May you always find yourself in auspicious situations, surrounded by happy, helpful, kind-hearted individuals, and to always look back and be grateful to all the people who have helped you along the way.

Outdoor sports are great family activities.  It is fun, and brings family members closer to each other.  It should be encouraged and promoted in the community.  But since it is outdoor, there are few environmental factors to be considered.

 

1.  Heat.  Not many people realized the harmful effects of heat.  The effects are not abrupt, but cumulative. This is what makes it dangerous. The effects are slow, so people think it’s harmless and take it for granted. Then, one day you will be surprised to be struck with one or two of the following heat related illness such as  sunburn and wrinkles, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and skin cancer. Otherwise, the body undergoes stress as it is forced to suddenly balance the body temperature brought about by the sudden change in temperature in the environment.  For example, chanting and cheering for your favorite sports team on a sunny, very hot day, then suddenly get soaked wet by rain.  This stress has detrimental effects on the body. This can cause dryness in the skin and mucus membrane of the eyes.  It can also bring about eye infections, respiratory infections, and muscular spasms.  Sports shelter provides the warmth needed by the body to slowly adjust to sudden temperature outdoor.

A Fish I Wish

Oh how I wish I was a fish to swim in the deep blue sea.
I would swim up and down and all around in laps of two or three.
There would be no rules to follow,all fun down here.
On land rules are trouble,a real pain in the rear.
Humans are not wanted down here and for them you must always look.
For they only want to see us fish dangling from their hook.
A sea full of wonder,yes that’s the life for me.
Oh how I wish to be a fish and one day soon I’ll be!

That’s right we went to Songkla aquarium for the weekend.  The kids had fun.  It was their first time.  So they were all eyes.

Unlike the poem above the fish here are not as free as described by Karstyn.  But yes, they are very much loved and protected here.

We were not able to make a very decent photo inside.  Camera flash is not allowed.  So we took videos instead.  Please check out our Songkla Aquarium’s feeding show video.
