Outdoor sports are great family activities. Â It is fun, and brings family members closer to each other. Â It should be encouraged and promoted in the community. Â But since it is outdoor, there are few environmental factors to be considered.
1.  Heat.  Not many people realized the harmful effects of heat.  The effects are not abrupt, but cumulative. This is what makes it dangerous. The effects are slow, so people think it’s harmless and take it for granted. Then, one day you will be surprised to be struck with one or two of the following heat related illness such as  sunburn and wrinkles, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and skin cancer. Sports shelter, shelters outdoor sports onlookers from the harmful effects of heat.  Making every family’s outdoor sports experience comfortable and sheltered. This will help reduce the heat related deaths of an average of 350 people each year according to the Center for Disease and Control (CDC).
       Â
2.  Rain is another environmental factor to be considered.  It may seem harmless. Some people think that plunging into the rain is good as it has a cooling effect.  True, if your body temperature prior to soaking in the rain is normal. Otherwise, the body undergoes stress as it is forced to suddenly balance the body temperature brought about by the sudden change in temperature in the environment.  For example, chanting and cheering for your favorite sports team on a sunny, very hot day, then suddenly get soaked wet by rain.  This stress has detrimental effects on the body. This can cause dryness in the skin and mucus membrane of the eyes.  It can also bring about eye infections, respiratory infections, and muscular spasms.  Sports shelter provides the warmth needed by the body to slowly adjust to sudden temperature outdoor.
   Â
While making sure that outdoor sports and activities are fun, shelter and protect your family and friends as well from the harmful effects of environmental elements.

Haven’t seen one of these, they look really helpful specially against the harmful sun rays.
Those are nice shelter for those hot sports’ activities to watch. It’ll bring shade to the sunny weather, more comfortable for spectators to sit and watch their favorite teams in the park.
Those are some cool shelters!
haven’t seen such yet here in the Phil.hehe
once in a while outdoor sports can effectively provide valuable learning experience, however im quite hesitant about it because of its negative effects that can bring towards one’s health esp when the children concerned are too young such as skin irritations and the like or too much hit that may dehydrate these youngsters:)
I never thought of those as controlling heat, only rain. Good post.
That is why I don’t like outdoor sports activity because of the sun. I am easily dehydrated when I am exposed under the heat of the sun and can barely breath.
Now, that’s pretty cool! I’ve never seen one of these before.
Ohhh we have that in Australia but they have to redesign it to something like this. it’ll be more helpful 😀
This looks very nice and clean and definetly stay cool during the summer!
Style and Functionality! This is very useful especially if the country’s climate is so unpredictable or should I say bipolar. 🙂
The sports shelter would really come in handy for those watching sports game outdoors. Also, it’s important to use sun blocks and rain gears for the weather.
wooow what a very clever design! Those shelters are perfect for any weather! ♥♥♥
A sports shelter is definitely a must in areas where there is exposed space to sunlight / rain. I’m glad that the Rizal Sports Center has these on the sides.
Heat doesn’t matter for Pinoys who dig basketball. I wonder if that shade can be of big help to those who are in the tropic.
There are different shelter designs for different countries. The shelters shown above might have been from a European country or maybe the US. I am from the Phil. and i play outdoor pickup inter-tsinelas basketball a lot. When playing, the heat might not matter… but while waiting for your turn or every after playing, having a shelter from the heat of the sun will be a great comfort.
Wow those shelters are cool and we really need one here in the Philippines so kids will leave their gadgets and start having outdoor activities. This shelters will also minimize a lot of health related problems.
That’s really true. Thanks for dropping by
Oh, I WISH they had those when I was younger. I would have loved to be out of the elements during some of those long soccer games.
At least nowadays, our kids will be able to enjoy outdoor activities, something that we haven’t enjoyed ourselves.
People definitely underestimate the dangers of the sun. I cringe when one of my friends goes to a tanning salon. I know I’ve damaged my skin from tanning during my college days. I just hope it doesn’t turn into melanoma.
I’m sorry to hear that. One article calls the sun’s heat as a “silent killer”. Have you gone to a specialist and see how far the sun’s heat has damaged your skin?
There are some good points here. Many people only think about cost and appearance when purchasing these types of shelters. You gave a good list of other things that should be considered.
Thank you Janeane
these would work really well in our cold Canadian weather!
That’s true. Then many would definitely participate. Thanks for dropping by
looks really cool – great place to maybe warm up when it’s cold…..or cool off when it’s hot…. 😀
