  1. When it comes to dental care I’d suggest opting for toothpaste that is naturally and non-toxic. The chemicals that are present in conventional toothpaste are much more hazardous than we think they would be.

  2. Great Post!
Thank you so much for sharing such an informative post.
The ideal dental care involves brushing your teeth after each meal. Use soft bristle toothbrush and fluoride and carefully brush along all the surfaces of the teeth in a back and forth motion. It is important to avoid brushing your teeth too vigorously as this can wear down teeth structures. To thoroughly clean each tooth, change the position of your brush after few strokes.Once again thank you so much for sharing this post.

  3. As I think the common mistake of the patients are in their twenties and thirties that they’re not giving good attention to their oral health. It’s very important to visit your dentist every six months for a checkup and cleaning which can avoid any major issues.

  4. I think it’s interesting how you mention to use about 20 inches of floss. I don’t think that I use that much each time I floss my teeth. Is it bad that I don’t use that much? Is it alright to use the same strand of floss for many teeth?

  5. I never knew that you should replace your toothbrush monthly to avoid bacteria from building up. I think I’ve been using my current toothbrush for at least six months! I’m really alarmed and worried about it now, and will be picking up a new toothbrush today!

  6. Will some of these tips also apply to brushing your dentures? It’s something that came to my mind since a friend of mine is going be to seeing a denturist to see if she needs dentures. The problem with her is that the dentist has already taken out almost all of the upper part of her teeth and few of the lower part.

  7. I always try to tell my kids that concept that you described in the third bullet point where they think brushing faster will eliminate the amount of time that they need to brush their teeth. I’ve also heard that brushing for at least two minutes, like you mentioned, is good for the bare minimum, but I also heard that around 5-6 minutes is ideal. I usually get to around 4 minutes, so I’m wondering if there’s any tricks you can use to help remind you to get to at least five minutes. What would you suggest doing?

    1. Some friends of mine “sing” or hum a song while brushing. I, on the other hand, run through my mind the things I need to do for the day. The length of time I brush my teeth depends on how busy my day is. ^_^

    1. Thank you. Although, it is a bit expensive here, I’d rather have my dental care done here than in the Philippines. I had several not so good experiences before with dental clinics. Once they know that you are a OFW, they’re going to jack up the price and offer you millions of pre-requisites to have a thing done to your teeth.

  8. Hi Mitch,

    Thanks for sharing this post.

I myself is conscious about my breathe. One time my girlfriend said that my breathe smells bad. I keep on smelling my own breathe but I really can’t know if it’s bad.

    How to check?

  9. Hello Mitch, your article is very timely for me, we have an upcoming appointment with a dentist (a new one) and I think we need to ask about their equipment. This mattered to me since I’ll be bringing my children along. Thanks for a very informative article!
