5 Reasons Moms Should Wig It Out

Why not,  right?

A wig should be a must in any Mom’s wardrobe.  We’re not talking about clown-like wigs. We’re talking about wigs that actually look and feel like they’re your own hair. Yep they have gotten so advanced these days, thanks to modern technology. These beautiful,  fashionable accessory is popular among top Hollywood celebrities like Gwen Stefani,  Beyonce,  Kylie Jenner,  and of course Lady Gaga. It’s nothing new for fashion models  as well. Coco Rocha, Kendall Jenner, and Gigi Hadid are just few of them.

Now Mommies, here are reasons why we need this in our wardrobe.

Protection for our natural locks.  As hair is definitely our crowning glory,  keeping it healthy is important. So protect them from all sorts of chemicals and stress. Whenever a need arises to get your hair done, and especially if it involves putting on hairsprays, styling gel, or whatnot, pause and get that crowning glory in a box instead.

Let’s give our natural hair a break.  Is there a mom here who has not had hair waxing,  hair rebonding,  hair curling, hair stretching, hair oil treatment,or even a simple trip to the salon to get her hair done in one point in her life?  Probably, none.  I had been blessed with strong,  thick,  jet black hair but with all those fuss about hair-rebonding and waxing,  well,  I gave in and had them once.  My hair has never been the same again.  And aside from this, age,  stress,  and neglect have taken its toll. If you and I are on the same boat, subjecting our hair to further stress is way too much.  Let it rest and rejuvenate,  and wig it out instead.

They’re easy and affordable.  Putting on a wig is easy peazy.  While it takes hours to go to the salon (well because of terrible traffic), and another few hours of excessive shampooing and conditioning,  and chemical-inundated hairstyling, it only takes minutes to put on a wig.  So you’d still have more time to do some other important Mommy stuff.  And also,  wigs are affordable,  some are even cheap.  That one time hair rebonding I had cost me $60, while wig online although some could cost you over a $100 there are many which costs as low as $10 only, and mind you these can be worn again and again whenever you feel like it.

Luxury of choosing the perfect style.  One issue I oftentimes encounter in the salon is the incompetence of some hairstylists to get it done accordingly and properly.  On the other hand, wigs are perfectly cut, colored,  or styled.  So, wigging it is the perfect solution.

Lastly, Moms can be fashionable too.  The taboo on wearing wigs is simply gone,  gone for good. Individuals of all walks of life are into wigs.  The reasons for wearing could vary but whatever the reasons are,  wearing a wig is just simply the new in thing nowadays.  If they are in, why can’t we?

Love this!
..and this.
This is one fashion trend that Moms ought to have.  It is safe,  saves us time,  and could boosts our confidence without hurting our hair and our pockets.

5 Features You Might Like to Have in a Family Car

Investing in a family car is a crucial decision to make for an average family like ours. My husband and I had a long discussion on what kind of car to get to replace our aging Nissan Sentra, even the make of the car was researched and compared. The time invested on research and review-comparisons did not go to waste as we are now currently enjoying the services of a reliable, fuel efficient, road worthy vehicle, the Toyota Vios/Yaris. It has been 5 years since.

The Toyota Vios (Asia) or Yaris (USA) is a B- Segment sedan. For a family of 4 it is more than enough to take the kids to school and drive it going to the office. On road trips this car just gives you that sense of confidence on the road knowing you are in a reliable car. This compact sedan is also easy to drive and easy to park. Fuel efficiency is also one of the reasons why my husband and I agreed to get it. We love road trips so the more fuel efficient the car is the better.

However as our kids grow our family activities are also getting diverse and we somehow feel that we are outgrowing the functionalities of our vehicle. Our kids love to ride their bicycles around the city park but we could barely fit one bicycle in the boot let alone two. So we ride in discomfort with one bicycle in the boot and one inside the car placed on the backseat. This is a dangerous set-up and we don’t want to be doing this for a long time.

So we are now in search for a vehicle that would cater to the demands of a growing family.  Cars.com is certainly a great help, as they have got wide selections to choose from. We are eyeing 3 time-tested car brands with their respective MPV offerings – the Toyota Avanza, the Honda Mobilio and the Suzuki Ertiga.

Below, we have delineated must haves in our family car.  Although based on our personal preferences, these nevertheless might be features that you would want to consider in your family car.

The reason why we are eyeing these three MPVs are as follows:

  1. Huge boot space – As I have mentioned our kids are into biking and we need that space for the bicycles. And not only that, we could use that boot space when we are on a road trip for our suitcases and a whole lot of other stuff that we like to bring with us on the road.
  2. Third row seats– Some may say third row seats are not that important but it is. We have experienced so many times driving with our kids on our laps because we have guests and we don’t have enough seats. And that is very dangerous.
  3. Cup holders– Now many may think of this as petty but it is definitely not if you have kids onboard all the time. Surely, most parents with young kids are with us on this. Anyway, this petty little feature is one of the things lacking in our reliable car and it is pretty annoying.
  4. Reclining middle row seats– This is a must for long distance trips. Your passengers will be more comfortable a bit reclined while on a long journey as to sitting upright the whole time.
  5. Price– For middle class families like us we are also very concerned with the price. SUVs can very well solve all our vehicle problems but would surely kill our finances. These three cars we are eyeing have some of the traits of an SUV for a lot less.

Now we are still on the process of choosing which of the three we would get. We would go through the same process of comparing specs and reviews of these MPVs before we decide to put our money down.

For parents out there with plans on buying a family car, what features do you consider important? Do we have similar preferences?

Guitar Cable Available at Musicians Friend

Guitar cables are perhaps the least thought of and most often the last in the list among amateur guitar players. Most would invest in cheap cables as the sound quality does not necessarily improve should you buy the expensive ones. The thing that they miss out is that investing in cheap cables could actually be as expensive if not even more expensive than investing in good quality guitar cables. Cheap quality cables tend to fail more often and so repairs for these cables are always on the expenditure list.

While good quality guitar cables may not improve the quality of the sound your guitar makes but it will definitely showcase the true sound your guitar produces. Less buzzing and least signal interference leads to clean, clear, crisp guitar sound from your guitar all the way to your amp. Quality guitar cable available at Musicians Friend.

Music is Life.

Music is certainly a part of life. It may take you to a whole new level in terms of finances and popularity or it may just be a thing you listen to everyday for inspiration, strength, or encouragement. But no matter what the reason is, music is a great influence in so many different ways.

For many years now The Voice is the biggest platform there is for artists and watching it is both entertaining and inspiring. Listening to contestants give his/her own rendition of a famous song and nailing it is so amazing.  As one continues watching,  you’d find yourself anticipating the next performance,  looking forward to a new style and new type of voice.  Aside from these,  contestants have their own distinct musical journey that anyone could relate to or get encouragement from. Another thing that is so amazing is knowing that these artists have such great passion for their craft,  touring from place to place sharing themselves and their music to everyone else. Once on tour everything must be prepared, the costumes, make up,  props and most especially the instruments. Tour managers must know the where-to go places like guitar center dallas in case the need arises.  Anyway speaking of tour,  several of The Voice artists winners and non-winners alike have been busy touring all over America. Now this is certainly inspiring.

In what way has music been a great influence to you?

“September”

Every now and then, my family has some sort of theme song which is our favorite for that time being. I remember “September” being played and sang almost everyday in the house and even in the car. The rich sound of the song would really have you sing and dance. It’s something that only a saxophone can do.

Saxophones are quite a rare thing here, gladly though there are many choices from wwbw instrument store. It’s great to have my kiddos exposed to as many musical instruments as possible, so they would be able to decide well on what to choose to play and concentrate on later.

What is your favorite brasswind instrument?

Jumping on the Bandwagon on a Budget

It has been 7 years since I bought myself a decent phone.

The last decent phone I had was the Nokia N-72. After the robbery incident in our home, in which my beloved phone sadly got included, I never got myself to buy another phone in that price range and that time the Nokia N72 was around 200USD here in Thailand. And so I bought myself a call and text phone (Nokia 107) and said to myself it’s all I need.

Fast forward to the present, I was persuaded by my husband to get a new phone and keep myself abreast with the present times and also my longtime friend and companion, my trusty Nokia 107, was showing signs of conking out. As we went window shopping I was astounded by the sheer volume of choices. You got Samsung neck and neck with Apple. You got LG, Huwawei, Sony, Nokia, Oppo, and another Chinese manufacturer which I can’t remember the name. I was having difficulty choosing which one to get for myself. So I kept on calling off my purchase date.

To help me with my purchase my hubby asked me a few questions to eliminate some of the selections and narrow down the candidates.

1. How much are you willing to shell out?

2. What do you really intend it for?

3. Any particular designs, color, or quirks you like or hate?

Well, one thing is for sure, I do not want to shell out more than 300USD just for a phone. I need a phone that is big enough for me to check on my blog, Facebook, e-mails and whatnot,  without straining my eyes. It also should take very good photos (check them out here and join the phone photography challenge here) without me trying so hard at it. LOL!  With my budget I have ruled out any kind of i-Phone but I really do love how it looks and of course its quality. The Samsung J7 was our first candidate as it met all of the desired specifications. But after reading the online reviews giving us tons of negative feedback, we backed track a whole lot. After checking it out for ourselves it proved to be true. So we moved on to the next candidate, the “Oppo F1s” I have never used an Oppo phone before but I have heard that it is quite popular amongst the teenagers here in Thailand. They said if you can’t afford the i-Phone get an Oppo.

Now, I am a very skeptical person especially with brand names. I always ask or research about it until I am satisfied with all the information and give me an emphatic sound reassurance. Reading its users review at a very popular phone website gave us mostly positive reviews and opinions. So we checked it out and Lo and Behold. The feel of the Oppo is more premium than what you’d expect from a relatively inexpensive phone. With its metal body it gives you that heft of reassurance in your hand. It’s wide screen gives out crisp and clear images with rich colors. So there… We have narrowed down the specifications I have in mind. A phone within the 300USD price range, big enough to avoid any eye strain, takes good photos, and with the dashing looks of an i-Phone.

What things have you done or acquired recently to jump in the bandwagon?

Flashback: Groovy University Years

For some their high school years were the happiest, but not for me. My university years were the most memorable, happiest, and colorful years of my life. The sense of freedom which seems to be inherent with it paved way to all sorts of activities which were not possible in high school.

The coolest one was when my friends and I were asked to form a band for a university event which then led to gigs in pubs and restaurants later on. It was the biggest project we had to take on during our younger years. We were nervous but totally excited.

We were pretty organized. The first thing we did was made sure we had the kind of members we wanted in the band. Musicians who know their instrument and are willing to devote time, effort, and money. Since we were just starting up, funds were scarce. So some instruments were either rented or borrowed. We had to chip in though for the amplifier. It was important for us to have an excellent amp with very good groove tubes inside to make sure the sound of our guitars are enhanced well. Next, we chose the songs we all liked and familiar with. Being familiar with the first set of songs saves time during rehearsals and because you like the songs the probability of a great performance is high, first impression lasts, right? And so, we had a lot of time to prepare for the next set of songs.

Basically, from experience, there are three important things needed to form a band. These are:
> enthusiastic, devoted musicians
> great instruments and equipment
> time, time, time for rehearsals

This is one of the reasons why my university years were the happiest.
What about you?

The Uke

Ukeleles are string instruments specifically of the lute family.  A ukulele generally has four nylon strings that run along the entire sound table and through the neck that’s either fretted or unfretted.  A uke is very much similar to a guitar with parts like headstock, neck, and a body.

This mini guitar-like instrument has been the latest craze among music enthusiast kiddos, my children included. Most are right handed but there are also left handed ukuleles. The vibrant colors of the vividly painted bodies attract kids all the more.  This Portuguese machete inspired instrument is also famous among the young at heart music lovers, which make them even cooler to look at. Ukelele is an interesting musical instrument.

Do you know anyone who’s into ukelele?

My kids have already broken one, imitating a guitar rock star play.
