Guitar Cable Available at Musicians Friend

Guitar cables are perhaps the least thought of and most often the last in the list among amateur guitar players. Most would invest in cheap cables as the sound quality does not necessarily improve should you buy the expensive ones. The thing that they miss out is that investing in cheap cables could actually be as expensive if not even more expensive than investing in good quality guitar cables. Cheap quality cables tend to fail more often and so repairs for these cables are always on the expenditure list.

While good quality guitar cables may not improve the quality of the sound your guitar makes but it will definitely showcase the true sound your guitar produces. Less buzzing and least signal interference leads to clean, clear, crisp guitar sound from your guitar all the way to your amp. Quality guitar cable available at Musicians Friend.

phi pha phet cave satun thailand

Spelunking Phu Pha Phet Cave, Satun Thailand

This is a raw video going inside the cave.

This huge cave is located at Tambol Palm Pattana Amphur Manang Satun Province in Southern Thailand. It is about an hour and 30 minutes from Hatyai City by a private car.

Phuphaphet Cave was previously called “Lod Cave”, “Yao Cave”, “Phet Cave”, and later “Phuphaphet Cave”. It is so named Phuphaphet because the stalactites and stalagmites sparkle like diamonds.

Its wondrously vast land area of 50 rai holds some amazing stalactites and stalagmites formations which incite superstitious belief among locals.  Some of these formations include what they call the “crystal curtain” because of the drapery-like effect to which the stalactites hang from the ceiling of the cave.  Another are the “river crystal” and “upside-down lotus” but the most intriguing is the stalagmite formations that resemble a male genitalia. Locals believe that this protects them from any harmful spirits that bring about diseases and misfortunes.  Visitors are prohibited from touching because they believe that by doing so, it will stop “growing”.

Aside from its strange geological formations, archaeological artifacts from ancient humans who found shelter inside the cave were also retrieved.  And also, they have found traces of fossils of ancient sea creatures. These have earned them some points in UNESCO World Heritage.

There you go.  Enjoy your trip to the cave.

It’s quite dusty inside so if you are asthmatic be sure to bring a mask.

On a personal note:

Derick and Summer were the youngest in the group of tourists in Phu Pha Phet cave. I thought they won’t survive the two hour walk inside the cave, well I thought wrong. As a matter of fact they enjoyed it, Summer got so fascinated by the things she saw and Derick, oh well, because it’s so dark and he gets to use a flashlight – his favorite thing at the moment – he felt it was totally a great adventure.

We came as a side trip since the cave is within the vicinity of the Wang Sai Thong waterfalls we went to earlier that day. Although unprepared it turned out successful. They love it and are looking forward to spelunk again.

This time though we have to prepare some things before-hand like.

  • Face mask especially if your kids are asthmatics. It might be dusty inside from loose soil or bat droppings.
  • Tiny backpacks for water bottles, face towel, and the likes
  • Comfortable rubber shoes are definitely better than open loose slippers
  • Long stretchy pants would be comfortable and it would be easy to crawl or duck if there is a need to.
  • Wear mosquito repellent lotion for protection.

You can Walk Off Your Plantar Fasciitis

Image result for plantar fasciitis

Conventional wisdom says rest it. If your heel hurts first thing in the morning when you get out of bed or after sitting down for a while, you may have plantar fasciitis. This is a condition related to arthritis which affects the thick bundle of tissue between your heels and your toes. If you have it you may feel a stabbing pain, but if you walk for a bit, it will ease up and calm down.

Should you walk with plantar fasciitis?
Yes, you can walk with this problem, however, you need to know what to do in order to minimize the pain and make sure you do not over do it. For example, you should:

Walk less when pain flares up
Walk slower
Use ice packs or cold bottles to reduce the inflammation
Wrap your feet with tape

These are just some of the suggestions for ensuring you can keep walking effectively with plantar fasciitis. It does not have to be an ailment which prevents you from walking – even long distances and when hiking. However, precautions and treatments are required. Music is Life.

Music is certainly a part of life. It may take you to a whole new level in terms of finances and popularity or it may just be a thing you listen to everyday for inspiration, strength, or encouragement. But no matter what the reason is, music is a great influence in so many different ways.

For many years now The Voice is the biggest platform there is for artists and watching it is both entertaining and inspiring. Listening to contestants give his/her own rendition of a famous song and nailing it is so amazing.  As one continues watching,  you’d find yourself anticipating the next performance,  looking forward to a new style and new type of voice.  Aside from these,  contestants have their own distinct musical journey that anyone could relate to or get encouragement from. Another thing that is so amazing is knowing that these artists have such great passion for their craft,  touring from place to place sharing themselves and their music to everyone else. Once on tour everything must be prepared, the costumes, make up,  props and most especially the instruments. Tour managers must know the where-to go places like guitar center dallas in case the need arises.  Anyway speaking of tour,  several of The Voice artists winners and non-winners alike have been busy touring all over America. Now this is certainly inspiring.

In what way has music been a great influence to you?

“September”

Every now and then, my family has some sort of theme song which is our favorite for that time being. I remember “September” being played and sang almost everyday in the house and even in the car. The rich sound of the song would really have you sing and dance. It’s something that only a saxophone can do.

Saxophones are quite a rare thing here, gladly though there are many choices from wwbw instrument store. It’s great to have my kiddos exposed to as many musical instruments as possible, so they would be able to decide well on what to choose to play and concentrate on later.

What is your favorite brasswind instrument?

Wang Sai Thong Waterfalls: Satun Thailand

Destination: Wang Sai Thong

Location: Nam Phut, La-ngu District, Satun 91110 (7°05’23.4″N 99°54’35.1″E

Wang Sai Thong falls is a great place to freshen up from the scorching hot weather of the summer.  This beautiful waterfalls known for its limestone minerals calcified on rocks, pool basin, and fallen tree branches is located at Moo 10, Baan Whang Na-Nai | Nam Phut, La-ngu, Satun Thailand 91110.  It is an hour and a half drive from Hatyai City. It is off the beaten track and going there without any help from a GPS, a map, or some friends who have been there could be a little confusing as there are numerous turnings as you enter the road going to La-ngu and away from the main road. For first timers, it’s better to venture this place with a GPS, or a detailed map, or be with people who know the area.

It has three levels of cascading, very cold waterfalls which drops into a wide pool of flowing fresh water.  What sets this waterfalls apart from other waterfalls in the south of Thailand is the presence of calcified limestone minerals on rocks, pool basin, and fallen tree branches; so your feet grip on to these which makes climbing up and going down easy and safe.  Aside from this, the pool at the foot of the waterfall are definitely wide but are not deep so it is safe even for kids to stay, play, and splash water around.

The waterfall is hidden under canopies of big, tall trees so it is a good place to picnic with family and friends as the place remain cool all throughout the day.

The place is open 24 hours from Saturday to Sunday.  It has a souvenir shop and restrooms which they need to improve immensely.

To give you a visual of the place take a look at this video.

Product Review: AJ Sound System

For the first time my family bought a Thailand made sound system, AJ.  In the past 10 years here, it has always been either Philips or Samsung.  But for whatever reason we just decided to try AJ.

Anyway, what about it?

Well, for the price of 2,990 baht (85$), the sound quality is the closest thing you get to a Sony. That’s right.  Great, isn’t it?

It has a two-tone color design with wooden panels.  It looks massive, heavy, and simple without fancy stuff.  Features include AUX, DVD, USB, Bluetooth, and FM radio. It’s a 5.1 ch surround system starting with a beautifully crafted sub-woofer, left and right speakers, left and right surround speakers and a center speaker all of which are separately controlled by four knobs.

However, there is one quirk that can be annoying at times.  It does not have a general knob for the volume.  So what I’m saying is that, you would have to turn all the knobs (all four of them) to adjust the volume.  Just imagine if the baby stirs a bit and you’d have to hurriedly lower the volume or else your ME time is over.

Now, I don’t know if this is how it is at the present modern-day sound systems but for sure it was not like this with our previous.  Anyhow, apart from this everything else works very well.  It may not be the best looking, fancy appliance there is but in terms of functionality, it is unquestionably great.  It means business.  What you see is what you get.  There are no compatibility issues, which was the case with our previous sound systems.  AJ works perfectly with other electronics like TVs, laptops, and mobile phones.

Have you had any experience with Thailand made products? How was it?
