Guitar Cable Available at Musicians Friend

Guitar cables are perhaps the least thought of and most often the last in the list among amateur guitar players. Most would invest in cheap cables as the sound quality does not necessarily improve should you buy the expensive ones. The thing that they miss out is that investing in cheap cables could actually be as expensive if not even more expensive than investing in good quality guitar cables. Cheap quality cables tend to fail more often and so repairs for these cables are always on the expenditure list.

While good quality guitar cables may not improve the quality of the sound your guitar makes but it will definitely showcase the true sound your guitar produces. Less buzzing and least signal interference leads to clean, clear, crisp guitar sound from your guitar all the way to your amp. Quality guitar cable available at Musicians Friend.

Spelunking Phu Pha Phet Cave

Derick and Summer were the youngest in the group of tourists in Phu Pha Phet cave. I thought they won’t survive the two hour walk inside the cave, well I thought wrong. As a matter of fact they enjoyed it, Summer got so fascinated by the things she saw and Derick, oh well, because it’s so dark and he gets to use a flashlight.

We came as a side trip since the cave is within the vicinity of the waterfalls we went to earlier that day. Although unprepared it turned out successful. They love it and are looking forward to spelunk again.

This time though we have to prepare some things before-hand like.

  • Face mask especially if your kids are asthmatics. It might be dusty inside from loose soil or bat droppings.
  • Tiny backpacks for water bottles, face towel, and the likes
  • Comfortable rubber shoes are definitely better than open loose slippers
  • Long stretchy pants would be comfortable and it would be easy to crawl or duck if there is a need to.
  • Wear mosquito repellent lotion for protection.

You can Walk Off Your Plantar Fasciitis

Image result for plantar fasciitis

Conventional wisdom says rest it. If your heel hurts first thing in the morning when you get out of bed or after sitting down for a while, you may have plantar fasciitis. This is a condition related to arthritis which affects the thick bundle of tissue between your heels and your toes. If you have it you may feel a stabbing pain, but if you walk for a bit, it will ease up and calm down.

Should you walk with plantar fasciitis?
Yes, you can walk with this problem, however, you need to know what to do in order to minimize the pain and make sure you do not over do it. For example, you should:

Walk less when pain flares up
Walk slower
Use ice packs or cold bottles to reduce the inflammation
Wrap your feet with tape

These are just some of the suggestions for ensuring you can keep walking effectively with plantar fasciitis. It does not have to be an ailment which prevents you from walking – even long distances and when hiking. However, precautions and treatments are required. To find out more about plantar fasciitis and what to do with it, check out my guide which answers the question – is walking good for plantar fasciitis?

Music is Life.

Music is certainly a part of life. It may take you to a whole new level in terms of finances and popularity or it may just be a thing you listen to everyday for inspiration, strength, or encouragement. But no matter what the reason is, music is a great influence in so many different ways.

For many years now The Voice is the biggest platform there is for artists and watching it is both entertaining and inspiring. Listening to contestants give his/her own rendition of a famous song and nailing it is so amazing.  As one continues watching,  you’d find yourself anticipating the next performance,  looking forward to a new style and new type of voice.  Aside from these,  contestants have their own distinct musical journey that anyone could relate to or get encouragement from. Another thing that is so amazing is knowing that these artists have such great passion for their craft,  touring from place to place sharing themselves and their music to everyone else. Once on tour everything must be prepared, the costumes, make up,  props and most especially the instruments. Tour managers must know the where-to go places like guitar center dallas in case the need arises.  Anyway speaking of tour,  several of The Voice artists winners and non-winners alike have been busy touring all over America. Now this is certainly inspiring.

In what way has music been a great influence to you?

Car Camera: Dengo

Having a car camera is in trend and beneficial. We are really not the type who would just jump in the bandwagon, but we found it useful, so we got one. Firstly, as we’re expats we could not speak the local language effectively and so explaining things is really frustrating at times. Secondly, nowadays some people would do or say anything just to get away with something, so it is better to have a piece of evidence.
We have scouted stores for the right one, by the way there are many choices to choose from, but eventually settled for Dengo Cam which is only available online. So what got us decided on this? Here are the reasons.

  1. It is a dual camera for a little over $56, great deal we thought. It has a 140 and 120 wide angle lenses for front and back respectively.
  2. It has an auto on and off, loop recording, and motion detection features.
  3. It has a built-in battery and a FHD recording resolution.
  4. Plus, installation is easy and the delivery is right on time.

Wow!

But there’s the catch.
Although the image quality is great, the recording lags all the time. We tried changing the memory card from a lowly 8gb to its maximum capacity as advertised of 32gb, then back to 8gb, and then to an even lower 2 gigabyte, it still lags. It is important that your car cam does not lag. What if an important thing happens right on the moment it lags and so that won’t be recorded.

Another is that it does not loop automatically as advertised. We found this out the hard way. We got bumped from behind and the driver initially denied it but immediately “agreed” when we told him it’s on camera. Looking through the recordings we found out that it has stopped recording two days prior to the accident. Good thing he didn’t ask for it. Whew!

We’ve learnt that aside from image and recording quality these two features mentioned above are total essentials.

Now, we know what to look for in the car cam.
Well, if something is too good to be true, it probably isn’t ……….

Food Factory Lee Garden Plaza

Haven’t been here for quite a while,  and as expected things have changed.  Today, we had lunch at the Food Factory.  It is at the basement of Lee Gardens,  one of the famous shopping centers right at the heart of downtown Hatyai.

The place has a warm, cozy ambience, and a friendly feel in it.  As Lee Gardens is the drop-off point of tourists from Malaysia and Singapore, you’d expect a sort of melting pot of different culture enjoying food of yet another beautiful culture. The staff looks friendly and accommodating. Everything is reasonably priced.

And I think it’s quite spacious.

“September”

Every now and then, my family has some sort of theme song which is our favorite for that time being. I remember “September” being played and sang almost everyday in the house and even in the car. The rich sound of the song would really have you sing and dance. It’s something that only a saxophone can do.

Saxophones are quite a rare thing here, gladly though there are many choices from wwbw instrument store. It’s great to have my kiddos exposed to as many musical instruments as possible, so they would be able to decide well on what to choose to play and concentrate on later.

What is your favorite brasswind instrument?

Wang Sai Thong Waterfalls: Satun Thailand

Wang Sai Thong falls is a great place to freshen up from the scorching hot weather of the summer.  This beautiful waterfalls known for its limestone minerals calcified on rocks, pool basin, and fallen tree branches is located at Moo 10, Baan Whang Na-Nai | Nam Phut, La-ngu, Satun Thailand 91110.  It is an hour and a half drive from Hatyai City. It is off the beaten track and going there without any help from a GPS, a map, or some friends who have been there could be a little confusing as there are numerous turnings as you enter the road going to La-ngu and away from the main road. For first timers, it’s better to venture this place with a GPS, or a detailed map, or be with people who know the area.

It has three levels of cascading, very cold waterfalls which drops into a wide pool of flowing fresh water.  What sets this waterfalls apart from other waterfalls in the south of Thailand is the presence of calcified limestone minerals on rocks, pool basin, and fallen tree branches; so your feet grip on to these which makes climbing up and going down easy and safe.  Aside from this, the pool at the foot of the waterfall are definitely wide but are not deep so it is safe even for kids to stay, play, and splash water around.

The waterfall is hidden under canopies of big, tall trees so it is a good place to picnic with family and friends as the place remain cool all throughout the day.

The place is open 24 hours.  It has a souvenir shop and restrooms which they need to improve immensely.

To give you a visual of the place take a look at this video.

Maternity Preparation: Expat’s Concern

Being a working expat we have limited support system.  Technically we’re on our own. With a child on the way my husband and I needed to have all things covered.

Both my kids were born in a hospital. I wouldn’t probably have it any other way since there were possibilities of Caesarian Section specially with my second child. Luckily though I had normal delivery for both despite the risks.

Here are some preparations we did.

  • Days before the delivery schedule, we mapped out the route to take from the house to the hospital taking into consideration time and traffic conditions.
  • Necessary things were all placed in one big bag to prevent cases of things getting lost or forgotten.
  • Pack only the essentials like mom’s going home clothings, sanitary napkins and toiletries (although these are provided), enough new born necessities – clothes,  diapers, baby wipes.
  • It would also be great to have hot packs to warm your mammary glands,  otherwise milk won’t come out and breastfeeding is painful (my nipples were bruised). Government hospitals are strictly implementing breastfeeding program. So formula milk is not allowed. But we sneaked in some,  no milk was coming out and my daughter was bawling her eyes out of hunger.  What can we do we’re parents.
  • Secure pertinent documents like passports,  work permit, and insurance card (I’ve got Prakansangkom, government insurance). And also a copy of house registration  (สำเนาทะเบียนบ้าน) is needed . Secure this from the house owner.
  • Prepare your baby’s name written in Thai letters on a piece of paper. Birth certificates are in Thai which require name written in Thai. So you would have to have it translated to English or your countries language for registration. Here’s how.
